2019 mark the release of the final animal in the Chinese zodiac cycle, the year of the pig. Today, we review this superb Australian lunar series 3oz silver coin & bar set
Measuring 85 X 55mm, this is a silver coin bar that weighs approximately 93.32 gram. The silver coin within the bar measures 45.6 mm in diameter. The silver coin has a bullion finish while the outer bar is proof like, creating a beautiful contrast for this coin bar.
The reverse of the coin shows the parent pig along its piglet and a privy mark with the Chinese character ‘fu’ which means prosperity. The reverse of the bar shows the lunar animal snake, dog, horse, tiger and ox alongside auspicious chinese decoration. The words “20th Anniversary of the Australian Lunar Series” is displayed celebrating the end of the chinese lunar zodiac and a new beginning.
The obverse of the coin shows the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The obverse of the bar shows the remaining lunar animal, the rat, chicken, monkey, dragon, goat and rabbit. The number ‘20’ highlights the longevity of the Perth mint Lunar series.
The coin bar is kept in a transparent magnet coin case that allows its owner to admire its beauty from the outside and assess the inside easily. A royal white box showing the sigil of the 12 chinese zodiac is used to keep the coin bar and a golden brown box is included to provide additional protection.
The certificate of authencity is included and the set has a limited mintage of 2,000 pieces worldwide.
