The Mint of Poland has now minted one of the most beautiful animals in its coin form. Perfected with crystal adorn from Swarovski, this coin is sure to make collectors proud.
The Indian peafowl or blue peafowl is a large and brightly coloured bird, native to South Asia. This peacock is a resident breeder across the Indian subcontinent and is found in the drier lowland areas of Sri Lanka. In many parts of northern India, they are protected by religious practices and will forage around villages and towns for scraps. The peacock is widely prominent and is celebrated in Hindu and Greek mythology as well as being the national bird of India.
Measuring 41mm in diameter and a weight of 32.9 gram, the reverse of the coin features a peacock showing his feathers in full bloom. The peacock is predominantly blue and its elongated upper-tail covert feathers bear colourful eyespots. Five blue crystals from Swarovski are intricately placed between the feathered backdrop that enhances the majestic look of the peacock.
The obverse of the coin depicts the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the inscriptions: “ELIZABETH II” – the name of the Queen. “NIUE ISLAND” – the issuing country, “2019” – the year of issue and “2 DOLLARS” – the face value are all found at the obverse.
The coin comes presented in one of the latex floating frames that make displaying the coin very easy. The cover features an artistically drawn blue peafowl surrounded by lotus flowers in relation to Indian religion. The coin is struck in 9999 pure silver, minted in proof quality and has a limited mintage of just 500 pieces worldwide. The certificate of authencity together with the coin specification is found at the back of the cover.
