Art of Collecting
This 1g gold foil is created by New Zealand Mint exclusively for the upcoming Diwali celebrations.
Since ancient times Diwali or Deepavali (row of lamps) has been celebrated throughout India and in Indian communities around the world. Singapore will be celebrating Deepavali on 27 October this year. Bright colours, tantalising aromas and the light of a thousand oil lamps fill the streets of Little India during this festive season as we wish our Indian friends happy diwali.
This foil has been produced in gold as buying or giving gold at Diwali is thought to bring good fortune and prosperity. The design of the foil itself incorporates a range of images associated with Diwali and the Hindu religion, with the focus on Ganesha and Lakshmi – two of the Hindu gods.
Measuring 140 x 70mm, this is a 1 gram foil made of 999 fine gold.
Two of the Hindu gods associated with Diwali, Ganesha and Lakshmi, are seen seated on lotus flowers and surrounded by stylised lotus flowers, petals and mandala. They, in turn, surround the celebratory words Happy Diwali. The reverse side features an intricate, abstract design inspired by a decorative mandala. The red highlights are carried through.
The foil is packaged inside a striking red, gift-style envelope – purpose made to complement the foil – and has been left blank for your own personal message.
This distinctive gold foil makes a truly unique gift for your Indian friends or colleagues. The days leading up to Deepavali usually sees an increase in demand for gold and we welcome all our Indian friends to purchase this gold foil from us.
